Randomness!
Good morning you guys!
I've been busy writing (and being a parent, student and decent human being!) so I just wanted to give you guys an update on what's coming up!
My poetry book "Conversations of the heart" is FINALLY about to see the light of day! I am anticipating the release date to be in the next two or three weeks! I'll be back with a definite date. I'm soooooooo excited!
I just wrapped up a new short story entitled "Hurt People". There are only three parts...I know you guys will be asking for more but three parts is it! I will probably post part one tomorrow. Or tonight, depending on my editing.
The writing group I am in has given us a challenge for the month of June to write a short story with a 4th of July theme. This is going to be the textbook definition of a short story...only one part. Well, right now it will be one part. Let's see what happens I get to the end! This will be posted in July
I've considered myself an 'aspiring' author for quite some time. One of my New Year's Resolutions (well, really it was my only resolution) was to remove the word aspiring from my description as an author. I have written a novel but fear has kept me from submitting it to my editor but my goal for June is to get it submitted to her. My plan is to have this book published late 2017/early 2018. I can't even begin to describe the fear, excitement, fear and anticipation I feel just writing this. Did I mention fear? Ya'll just pray for me.
About a week ago my writing group asked about the genre in which we wrote. It was a simple question and I thought I was a romance author through and through. However, when I write my short stories and even my novels (yes, that was plural- I have two more in the works), I don't think the romance genre encompasses what I write. It's like a combination of romance, erotic, chick lit and self-help. I hope to help someone in the form of a fictional character. I include issues such as mental health, abusive relationships, strained parent relationships, dating, single life, and parenting. When people tell me they can relate to a character or a situation, that makes me feel like I've helped or at least brought light to an issue.
So that's all that's going on with me right now. Make sure you subscribe to my website for updates!
